Tattoo Aftercare Sofia

Instructions on how to care for your tattoo
Your tattoo session may be finished, but proper tattoo aftercare is essential for good healing, vibrant results, and preventing irritation or infection.
A fresh tattoo should be treated like an open wound during the first days after tattooing.
At White Rabbit Tattoo Studio in Sofia, we recommend following these professional tattoo aftercare instructions carefully.

Plastic Film Tattoo Aftercare
If your tattoo was wrapped with classic plastic film (cling foil), keep it on for a couple of hours or until you get home.
Once home:
✔ Remove the foil
✔ Wash the tattoo with fragrance-free or baby soap
✔ Use the palm of your hand to gently remove ink, blood, and plasma
❌ Do NOT scrub the tattoo
After washing:
✔ Pat dry with clean paper towel or air dry
❌ Do NOT rub the tattoo
❌ Do NOT use bath towels or hand towels
Wash your tattoo twice per day, or more if sweaty or dirty. The rest of the time, keep it clean and dry.
After a Few Days
During healing, it is normal for your tattoo to feel:
✔ Dry
✔ Tight
✔ Itchy
⚠️ Do NOT scratch the tattoo.
You can apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare cream once or twice daily after cleaning.

Second Skin / Protective Sticker Aftercare
Some tattoos are covered with a Second Skin protective sticker.
While the sticker is fully sealed, no special aftercare is needed.
Avoid:
-
❌ Direct sunlight
❌ Pressure or friction on the tattoo
Recommended time to keep the sticker on:
-
✔ 1 night minimum
✔ 3 nights recommended
Remove the sticker immediately if:
-
✔ It starts peeling off and the tattoo becomes partially exposed
✔ Liquid leaks outside the sticker
Removing the Sticker
Remove the Second Skin slowly under lukewarm water.
Peel it parallel to the skin.
After removing:
-
✔ Wash the tattoo gently with neutral soap
✔ Pat dry with clean paper towel or air dry
✔ Keep the tattoo clean and dry
It is normal for some excess ink to come off with the sticker.
What To Avoid After Getting Tattooed
For at least 3 weeks after getting tattooed, avoid:
❌ Sauna
❌ Swimming pools
❌ Beach, sea, and sand
❌ Sunbathing
❌ Solarium / tanning beds
Also avoid:
❌ Synthetic clothing
❌ Heavy friction on the tattoo
❌ Pressure from backpacks, bras, socks elastic, or tight gym clothing
Tattoo Healing Process
Most tattoos heal within 2–4 weeks.
During healing, your tattoo may:
-
✔ Release excess ink or plasma
✔ Feel sensitive or tight
✔ Become dry or itchy
✔ Start peeling lightly
This is usually a normal part of tattoo healing.
Tattoo Peeling & Itching
After a few days, your tattoo may peel or flake. This is normal.
❌ Avoid scratching or picking the skin, as this may damage healing and create lighter spots in the tattoo.
✔ Keeping the tattoo clean and lightly moisturized helps reduce itching.
Protect healed tattoos from strong sunlight and use sunscreen, if you would like to help keep lines crisp and colours saturated for longer.
